Virginia L. Dickey, 85 passes away Jan. 28
Virginia L. Dickey, 85, of Seymour died at 3 a.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Arrangements were entrusted to Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home in Columbus. Cremation is planned.
Mrs. Dickey, a 1946 graduate of Columbus High School, worked at Indiana Bell Telephone Company and retired from Columbus Regional Hospital where she was a switchboard operator for 20 years. She was a member of Reddington Christian Church. Mrs. Dickey enjoyed outside activities, especially camping, hiking and swimming. She also enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.
Born in Madison August 12, 1928, Mrs. Dickey was the daughter of Frank E. "Monk" Tewell and Thelma L. Quillen Tewell. She married Claude "Bud" Dickey August 26, 1966.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Steven M. Day of San Diego, California; daughters, Bonita L. Robertson of Franklin, Melody Kriete, Natalie Day and Megan McKinney, all of Brownstown; stepdaughters, Cindy and Shari Dickey of North Vernon; grandchildren, Jessica Robertson Cody, Keely Robertson Leach, Britney Dickey, Justin, Candyce and Kyle Day, Jenifer Day Healy; and sisters, Katheryn Loose of Kingman, Arizona, Martha Franklin of New Castle, and Linda Lockwood of Wichita Falls, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Louis E. Tewell.
