Lance Alan Jones, 49 enjoyed sports hobbies
Lance Alan "Heater" Jones, 49, of Madison died Monday, January 27, 2014 at 1:26 p.m. at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the North Madison Christian Church with Brother Bob Hicks officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison and Saturday from 1:30 p.m. until time of the service at the church. Interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery in Madison.
Mr. Jones was a 1983 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School where he was an All-State Baseball player and also participated in football. He attended Olney Central College in Illinois and Nicholls State University in Louisiana where he played baseball at both. He was a 1989 graduate of Indiana University Southeast School of Business. Mr. Jones was employed with Forward Lift in Madison. His hobbies included playing golf and baseball, participating in fantasy football, and watching IU, the Cincinnati Reds and the Dallas Cowboys. Mr. Jones was a member of the North Madison Christian Church, the Madison Area Chamber of Commerce and had served on the park board for the City of Madison Parks Department.
Born December 2, 1964 in Madison, Mr. Jones was the son of Lee and Patsy A. McClain Hatchell. He married Sandy Anderson August 8, 1987 at the St. Mary's Church. She survives.
In addition to his wife, survivors include sons, Logan and Luke Jones, both of Madison; parents of Marysville; brother, Rob W. Jones of Rockport; sister, Lori (Doug) Woodward of Sellersburg; and nieces and nephews.
