Martha Ann Young, 82 had worked at WIC office
Martha Ann Young, 82, of North Vernon died at 7:40 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2013 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services with the Rev. Dale Boyd officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the New Freedom Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Young worked for the Jennings County W.I.C. office part time for eight years and had retired from the former Regal Rugs where she had worked as a sewing machine operator. She was a babysitter and caregiver for four years. Mrs. Young was a former member of New Freedom Baptist Church and was a 1949 graduate of Vernon High School. She enjoyed flowers, going to yard sales, attending church, watching birds and sewing. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Born February 20, 1931 in Jennings County, Mrs. Young was the daughter of Ross Raymond and Druzzie M Hamilton Austin.
Survivors include children, Robert Eugene Young of Madison and Edie (James) Schildknecht of North Vernon; a sister, Wilma Birge of Dupont; seven grandchildren, Adam (Kristie) and Josh Young, Rachel Campbell and Robbie Lamb all of North Vernon, Tonya Schildknecht of Columbus, Brady Schildknecht of Annapolis, Maryland and Teresa (Jeff) Even of Lakeland, Florida; and 12 great-grandchildren, Dillon, J.T. , Christopher, Thomas, Cailtyn, Carmen, Alaina, Chase, Jonathon, Katie, David and Nathan.
