LaVonna Mae Holtman, 82 was devoted to her church
LaVonna Mae Holtman, 82, of Seymour died Friday, January 3, 2014 at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour with Rev. Ralph Blomenberg, Rev. Philip Bloch, Rev. James Rodriguez and Vicar Mark Huff officiating. Family and friends may call at Voss Chapel in Seymour Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the church Thursday after 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
Mrs. Holtman was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church where she would fold the bulletins for Sunday morning worship service. She graduated from Cross Plains High School in 1949. She had worked in the insurance business before leaving to raise a family and work at home. In her spare time, Mrs. Holtman enjoyed crocheting, working in the flower garden and spending time with her grandchildren. She also volunteered at the Lutheran Community Home.
Born in Ripley County October 11, 1931, Mrs. Holtman was the daughter of Wilber and Edna (Thomas) Burman. On July 17, 1966, in Jackson County, she married Ralph E. Holtman. He died October 23, 2009.
Survivors include sons Carl and Mark (Jennifer) Holtman; grandchildren, Brandon and Alexis Holtman and Makayla and Paige Kestler; and sister, Glendora Meier.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a brother, Gerald Burman.
Memorials may be written to the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lutheran Hour or Trinity Lutheran High School through the funeral home.
