Edith Louise Hines, 80, of Scipio died 1:40 a.m. Wednes-day, January 1, 2014 at her home.
Funeral services were Saturday at the Dove Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services with the Rev. Connie Barr officiating. Burial was at the Scipio Cemetery.
Mrs. Hines worked for First National Bank and Schonfeld Insurance as the office manager for 17 years. She was a member of Scipio Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Scipio Volunteer Fire Department, and helped prepare funeral meals. She was a 1950 graduate of North Vernon High School and enjoyed animals, gardening and canning food.
Born March 2, 1933 in Scipio, Mrs. Hines was the daughter of Ira Roscoe "Buck" and Katherine Hubbard Buchanan. She married James Hines February 29, 1952 in Jonesville. He survives.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a sister June Grills of North Vernon; five nephews, John (Janet) Buchanan of Rinnick, West Virginia, Walter (Angela) Grills of North Vernon, Mike (Barb) Burkman, Wes (Machel) Hines and Scott (Tamika) Hines, all of Scipio; eight nieces, Tina (Ken) Morin, Lisa (Lonnie) Lacey, Amy Grills, Rebecca (Jim) Umphrey, Boni (Scott) Fewell, all of North Vernon, Laura (Kevin) Johnson of Columbus, Debbie (Delbert) Rust of Seymour, and Sherry Burkman of Scipio.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Eugene and Tracy Buchanan; and one sister Tressie Buchanan.
