John Frey, 82, of S'mour a farmer and a milk tester
John Frey, 82, of Seymour died Saturday, December 28, 2013, at his residence.
Funeral services were held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour Thursday with Rev. Ralph Blomenberg, Rev. James Rodriguez, and Vicar Mark Huff officiating. Burial took place at Riverview Cemetery with full military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour.
Mr. Frey was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he held several offices and served on numerous committees as well as being a former member of the Lutheran Men's Chorus. A 1949 graduate of Seymour Shields High School, he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Frey was a farmer and a milk tester for the Dairy Herd Improvement Association.
Born August 23, 1931, in Seymour, Mr. Frey was the son of Oscar J. and Mabel (Pfaffenberger) Frey. On August 21, 1960 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan, he married Doris Stahl who survives.
Besides his wife of over 60 years, survivors include his children, Robert (Linda) Frey, Angela (Jeff) Green, and Melinda (Troy) Backes; grandchildren, John (Jayne), Sarah, and Kirsten Frey, Rachel and Stephanie Green, and Blake and Tyler Backes; and sisters, Lola Mae Wessel and Carol (Jim) Harlan.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
