Amelia Adeline Brewer, 85

Amelia A. Brewer, 85 laid to rest at Seymour

Amelia Adeline Brewer, 85, of Seymour died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, at Seymour Crossing.

Funeral services were Friday at Woodlawn Family Funeral Centre in Seymour. A private burial took place Saturday at Riverview Cemetery in Seymour.

Mrs. Brewer moved to Seymour in 1973. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925 and Tri-County Shrine Guild. She attended All Saints' Episcopal Church until its closing and afterwards attended Weston Baptist Church. Although she was mainly a housewife, Mrs. Brewer had also worked at Grants, which later became Kmart, Jamestown Apartment Complex and had owned and operated the Doll House. She also volunteered at Lutheran Community Home. She enjoyed winning money at bingo and spending money at yard sales.

Born March 4, 1928, on the Crow Creek Sioux Reservation in South Dakota, Mrs. Brewer was the daughter of John and Mable Sazue Jeunesse. She married Grover Brewer on Aug. 10, 1953, in Rapid City, South Dakota and he preceded her in death in 2005.

Survivors include her two children, William C. (Patty) Brewer of Seymour and Wanda (David) Spall, Tampa, Florida; nine grandchildren, Stacey Sumrell, Michael, April and Josh (Dawn R. Fitzpatrick) Brewer, Dorenda (Christopher) Adams, Ryan Spall (fiancee Andrea Heshelman), Shelley (Nathaniel) Hicks, and Christopher and Jordan Hallow; and 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Brewer was preceded in death by a sister, Delma "Janie" Rhoades in 1986; a half-sister, Magdaline Rose "Jiggs" White Mouse; and her three eldest children, Charles S. Miller, Janeen Shelley Katz and, John Owens Brewer. Memorials can be made to VFW Ladies Auxiliary cancer grant fund or Seymour Senior Center.
