Gloria Reed Smith, 87 retired on 80th birthday
Gloria Reed Smith, 87, of Seymour and formerly of North Vernon, died Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at 8:45 p.m. at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.
Funeral services were Monday at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison.
Burial was at Vevay Cemetery in Vevay.
Mrs. Smith had worked for Conn Morgan in Madison as a floor supervisor and for 18 years at the Walmart of Seymour as a door greeter, retiring on her 80th birthday. She enjoyed NASCAR, puzzle books, watching television, and soap operas.
Born October 21, 1926 in Moorefield, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of Leslie Carlisle and Maude Peters Reed. She married Melvin L. Smith on August 12, 1957 and he preceded her in death on January 3, 1979.
Survivors include a daughter, Penny (John) Johnson of Beech Grove; son, Gene R. (Angelee) Smith of Freetown; and a grandson, Tony Box of Seymour.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by sisters, Ramona B. Sampson Todd, Illena Anderson and Fern Cole; and brothers, Richmond Reed and Lionel ìBudî Reed.
