Virginia Mae A. Richards, 92 of Vevay leaves family in JC
Virginia Mae Alford Richards, 92, of Vevay, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2013 at 3:55 a.m. at King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison.
Funeral services were Monday at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay with Rev. Ron Lee officiating. Burial was at Vevay Cemetery.
Mrs. Richards was a 1940 graduate of Dillsboro High School. She was a homemaker, mother and farm wife. Mrs. Richards, a member of the Brushy Fork Baptist Church near Pleasant, enjoyed cooking, baking, swimming and gardening.
Born November 14, 1921, in Allensville, Mrs. Richards was the daughter of Marshall and Lillian Mae Pryor Alford. She married Roy H. Richards on February 15, 1941, and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Becky (John) James of North Vernon; two sons, Gayle Richards of Hanover and Robert "Bob" (Juanita) Richards of Vevay; sister, Aldean Brindley of Greensburg; grandchildren, Dale, Troy (Georgia), Bruce (Crystal), Todd (Tracie), T.J. (Natasha), Chris and Dusti Richards, Cate (Doug) Burton, Tina (Gregg) Leas, Roy L. (Becky) Richards, Belinda Heath, Beth (Jeff) Scholar; 29 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; half-brothers and sisters, Marshall, David and Morris Alford, Rebecca Rimstidt, Rachel Goolsby, and Erna Siekman.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Richards was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Richards; grandson, Ross Richards; great-grandson, Troy McGinnis; brother, John Alford; and sisters, Alma Benham, Doris Osborn and Edith Lee Alford.
