Jane Ellen H. Kaufman taught 33 years in B'town
Jane Ellen Hackman Kaufman, 65, of Seymour died Friday, November 14, 2013 at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.
Funeral services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Ralph Blomenberg officiating. Burial will take place at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Sauers.
Friends may call at Voss Chapel in Seymour Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday after 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
Ms. Kaufman was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour, where she participated in various volunteer activities including Immanuel Altar Guild. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers. A 1966 graduate of Seymour Senior High School, Ms. Kaufman earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana State University and a Master of Science in Education from Indiana University. She retired from teaching after 33 years of teaching at Brownstown Elementary School. From 2000 to 2012 she was employed with the Jackson County Public Library.
Born July 28, 1948 in Seymour, Ms. Kaufman was the daughter of Howard and Lucille Rieckers Hackman.
Survivors include a sister, Jina Hackman of Indianapolis; brothers, Jim (Debbie) Hackman of Henryville and Joe (Donna) Hackman of Seymour; nephews Clay (Sarah) Hackman of Seymour, Clint (Amy) Hackman, Seymour, Cliff Hackman of Indianapolis, Judd Hackman of New Albany, Brett (Kristin) Hackman of Melissa, Texas, Greg (Heather) Durham of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Darrell (Kim) Durham of St. Charles, Missouri; two great-nieces; and eight great-nephews.
