Agnes Hagerty, 91, a mother of 10 children
Agnes Hagerty, 91, of Greensburg died Saturday, October 26, 2013, at Arbor Grove Village in Greensburg.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Rev. John Meyer officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg. A public Rosary service will be held Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Greensburg.
Mrs. Hagerty graduated from Montgomery High School. She worked at various department store positions as well as working and studying at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove. When all the children were raised, Mrs. Hagerty went back to college and received her LPN license. She worked at Lincoln Street Nursing Home and the Heritage House Nursing Home as well as Columbus Regional Hospital.
Born November 1, 1921, in Daviess County, Mrs. Hagerty was the daughter of Otto S. and Mary Elizabeth (Gates) Wathen. She married Francis E. Hagerty on November 22, 1941.
Survivors include six sons, John and Dale Hagerty of Letts, Dennis (Susie) Hagerty and Bernie (Janet) Hagerty of Greensburg, Jim (Marietta) Hagerty of Westport and Larry (Kathy) Hagerty of North Vernon; four daughters, Dorothy (Steve) Scudder of St. Paul, Teresa (Joel) Diedrich of Georgia, Alice (Bob) Back of Westport and Nancy (Dan) Schroeder of Greensburg; one sister, Viola (Mac) McMillan of Los Angeles, California; 36 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hagerty was preceded in death by her parents; spouse; brother, Vincent Wathen and three sisters, Kathryn Kelly, Dorothy McKinney and Charlotte Wathen of Montgomery.
