Samuel G. Ferguson, 55 dies Monday at home
Samuel George "Sam" Ferguson, 55, of Ghent, Kentucky, died Monday, October 28, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at his home.
Funeral services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison with Pastor Deek Dubberly officiating. Calling will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. and from Friday from 12:30 p.m. until time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Dupont Cemetery.
Mr. Ferguson was a 1976 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School. He had been an agent with Farm Bureau Insurance for over 20 years and then worked security with Kentucky Utilities at the Ghent Power Plant. Mr. Ferguson was a member of Ryker's Ridge Baptist Church, enjoyed reading and was an avid sports fan, especially for IU and the Cincinnati Reds.
Born January 28, 1958 in Madison, Mr. Ferguson was the son of Floyd V. and Helen Marie Crider Ferguson. He married Linda Hummel on June 27, 1981 at Ryker's Ridge Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Cami (Kyle) Helton of Bloomington; son, U.S. Navy E-4 Samuel Ferguson, stationed in Japan; his mother of Madison; four brothers, Stephen and Bradley (Sheila) Ferguson of Madison, Rev. Dennis (Rev. Vera) Ferguson of North Vernon and Jonathon (Stacey) Ferguson of Indianapolis.
Mr. Ferguson was preceded in death by his father; sister, Susan Ferguson and a brother, Daniel Ferguson.
The family requests memorials be made to the Sam Ferguson Memorial Fund through the funeral home.
