Dorothy Louise Shatto, 85 active at Nazarene Church
Dorothy Louise Shatto, 85, of North Vernon died at 10 p.m. Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Mark Hammel and Dr. Randy James officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services and one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Burial will be at the Hayden Cemetery.
Mrs. Shatto, a 1949 graduate of Lancaster High School in Lancaster, Kentucky, was a housewife and a homemaker. She worked at the former Ben Franklin in Kentucky and also the former Caradonna's 5 & 10 in North Vernon. Mrs. Shatto was a member of the North Vernon Nazarene Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher, church board member, secretary, VBS worker and sang in the choir. She was also a former delegate to the Nazarene Assembly. Mrs. Shatto enjoyed cooking, sewing, and gardening.
Born September 12, 1928 in Lancaster, Kentucky, Mrs. Shatto was the daughter of James Lee Todd and Edith Tatem Todd. She married Nicholas John Shatto Jr. on September 12, 1961 in North Vernon. He preceded her in death on November 4, 2002.
Survivors include a son, Ralph (Kim) Shatto of North Vernon; daughter, Ramona Shatto of North Vernon and three grandchildren, Mackenzey, Mikaela and Ethan Shatto all of North Vernon.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Shatto was preceded in death by two brothers, William Franklin Todd and Embry Lee Todd; and one sister, Frances Todd Bryant.
