Vera G. Coleman, 99, will be laid to rest Thursday
Vera G. Marshall Coleman, 99, of Commiskey, died Saturday, October 19, 2013 at King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Lancaster Baptist Church with Rev. Aubrey Bessenger and Pastor Judy Howard Stater officiating. Calling will be from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison and from 10 a.m. until time of the service at Lancaster Baptist Church. Burial will be at Dupont Cemetery.
Mrs. Coleman worked for 25 years for the U.S. Corrugated Box Company in Indianapolis. She enjoyed taking care of her home and had worked part time cleaning offices. She was a member of the Lancaster Baptist Church.
Born September 8, 1914 in Lancaster, Mrs. Coleman was the daughter of Dempsey and Bertha Graper Marshall. She married Clarence Coleman on December 11, 1943 and he died November 25, 1981.
Survivors include two brothers, John and Kenneth Marshall of Lexington; niece and nephew and caregivers, Jeanne and George Holwager of Lancaster and several other nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sisters, Ruby Holwager, Lelia Cassidy, Florence Dolby, Mayme Craddock and Edna Fern Lockridge and her brothers, Leslie, Vincent, Rodney, Wayne, Paul and Lloyd Marshall.
