Brooks Andrew Spurgeon dies unexpectedly Sept. 29
Brooks Andrew Spurgeon, 31, of North Vernon died at 7:12 p.m. Sunday, September 29, 2013 at I.U. Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
A Celebration Motorcycle ride to his father's and stepmother's home, was Saturday where a come-and-go Celebration of Life service took place. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery at a later date. Local arrangements were handled by the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
Mr. Spurgeon worked as a diesel tech for Walmart Distribution Center in Seymour for four months and had previously worked for Travel Center of America as a diesel tech for 10 years. He was a 2000 graduate of Jennings County High School and 2003 graduate of University of Northwestern Ohio with a degree as an Auto & Diesel Technician. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, working on a 1970 Nova, family time, bowling and fishing.
Mr. Spurgeon was born July 11, 1982, the son of Robin and Brenda Hall Spurgeon. He married Amanda Clarkson on July 26, 2003 in North Vernon. She survives.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his son and daughter, Brendan and Ruby Spurgeon both of North Vernon; his father and stepmother, Robin and Angela Spurgeon of North Vernon; brother, Steven (Ashley) Spurgeon of North Vernon; a sister, Kristy (Jason) Smallwood of North Vernon; grandparents, Harold Spurgeon of North Vernon and Marvin and Ronna Hall of Seymour and two stepsisters, Abigayle and Alizabeth Kincaid of North Vernon.
He was preceded in death by his mother and grandmother.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Brooks Spurgeon's Memorial Fund for his children's education at PNC Bank.
