Melvin E. Browning, 73, operated a local bakery
Melvin Edward "Rosebud" Browning, 73, of North Vernon died Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Vernon Cemetery with the Rev. Tom Horton officiating. Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services were entrusted with the arrangements.
Mr. Browning was owner and operator of Rosebud's Bakery in North Vernon for 12 years retiring in 1975. He was a member and trustee of Queensville Community Church and enjoyed bowling, motorcycles and playing pool.
Born on June 16, 1940 in Jennings County, Mr. Browning was the son of John Browning and Mary Starke Trayler. He married Donna I. Speer on January 23, 1976 in Hartsville. She survives.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two stepsons, Terry W. (Kay) Zornes of North Vernon and Dennis E. (Peggy) Zornes of Columbus; sister, Sherida Heuer of North Vernon; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Browning and his mother and stepfather, Mary Starke Trayler and J.C. Trayler.
