Cleon J. G. Roberts, 77, had worked for Madison hospital
Cleon J. Griffin Roberts, 77, of Madison died Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at 10 p.m. at Thornton Terrace Health Campus in Hanover.
Funeral services were Sunday at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison with Dariel Courtney and Vincent D. Roberts officiating. Burial will be at Bayless Cemetery in Madison.
Mrs. Roberts was a 1954 graduate of Madison High School. She had worked for King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison working 20 years as a department secretary for the radiology department. She also spent five years working as a dietary clerk and central supply clerk, retiring after 20 years of service. Mrs. Roberts was a member of Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion Auxiliary and Resurrection Lutheran Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and socializing with her high school friends.
Born February 24, 1936 in Madison, Mrs. Roberts was the daughter of Howard James and Blanch O. Wise Griffin. She married Jesse Roberts on August 14, 1959 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Madison.
Survivors include a daughter, Dariel V. (Keith) Courtney of Madison; son, Vincent D. (Anne) Roberts of Hanover; sister, Ruth A. Rogers of Bedford; grandchildren, Danielle and Brandon Smith, Jared V. Roberts, Brittany L. (Matt) Shaffstall, Erin E. (Doug) Kindle and Austin Courtney; great-grandchildren, Bryleigh and Lillian Shaffstall, Sage and Alex Kindle and Zaylor Smith.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Roberts was preceded in death by a son, Darnell W. Roberts; brother, James L. Griffin and sister, Dorothy "Dot" Eades.
