Jean Nay, 79, enjoyed church work, dancing
Jean Hughes Nay, 79, of Madison died Monday, September 9, 2013 at 12:12 p.m. at the Waters of Clifty Falls in Madison.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Indian-Kentuck Baptist Church in Canaan with Pastor Ed Roberts officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison and from Friday from 10 a.m. until time of the service at the church. Burial will be in Canaan Cemetery.
Mrs. Nay worked for many years as a custodian for the Madison Consolidated School System and as a hostess for the Pines Restaurant in Madison. She had owned and operated with her son, the Victoria Inn, in downtown Madison for several years. Mrs. Nay was a member of the Indian-Kentuck Baptist Church near Canaan and was a member of the American Baptist Women and served on the hospitality committee of the church. She enjoyed dancing, her church work and spending time with her grandson.
Born April 10, 1934 in Aurora, Mrs. Nay was the daughter of James and Lillian Nordica Perkins Hughes. She married Paul Nay on February 22, 1958. He died January 13, 1983.
Survivors include a son, Mark E. Nay of Madison; grandson, Adam (Lesa) Nay of Versailles; great-granddaughter, Taylor Elizabeth Nay and sister, Lillian Wagner of Bowling Green, Kentucky.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Nay was preceded in death by brothers, James Harold and John Nelson Hughes and sisters, Edith Ransom, Iona Margaret Luhrsen, Jacqueline Rininiger and Norma Marion Reuter.
