Alice K. Griffin, 84, was 35-year MSDC attendant
Alice Kathryn Griffin, 84, of North Vernon died at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at her residence.
Graveside committal services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Canaan with the Rev. Richard Burcham officiating. Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services were entrusted with the arrangements.
Mrs. Griffin attended school in Jefferson County and worked as an attendant for the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville retiring in 1986 after 35 years. She enjoyed fishing and going out to eat.
Mrs. Griffin was born on March 11, 1929 in Jefferson County, the daughter of Glen and Opal Meek Caswell. She married Delmar Griffin on March 15, 1946 in Jefferson County. He preceded her in death on March 8, 2002.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Wayne (Mary) Griffin and Randy Dee (Beth) Griffin both of North Vernon; brother, Eugene (Sharon) Caswell of Madison; two sisters, Ellen (Bill) Lucas of Madison and Phyllis (Tommy) Burnett of Dupont; grandchildren, Connie Toops, Angie Owens, Trevor, Susie, Dillon, Shelly, Becky and Billy (Kim) Griffin and Marsha (Jon) Mack, all of North Vernon and 18 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Griffin was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Sue Franks and brother, Ricky Caswell.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice of Jennings County.
