James Joe Wilkes, 56, was chemist at Madison
James Joe Wilkes, 56, of Hanover died Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at 10:46 p.m. at King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison with Shane Brunner officiating. Visitation is Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 12 noon until time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hanover Cemetery.
Mr. Wilkes graduated from Southwestern High School. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Hanover College with a degree in chemistry. He was employed the past 32 years with Madison Chemical as a chemist. Mr. Wilkes was a member of Rivervalley Community Church. He enjoyed listening to his stereo, watching concert videos, model building, wood working and making pens.
Born August 15, 1957 in Terre Haute, Mr. Wilkes was the son of James R. and Rita M. Gorham Wilkes.
Survivors include his parents and a brother, Kenneth (Karen) Wilkes of Avon as well as nieces and nephews.
Mr. Wilkes was preceded in death by grandparents, Ralph and Dorothy Wilkes and Randle and Lovie Gorham.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rivervalley Community Church Building Fund through the funeral home.
