Raymond Fay Hart, Sr. drove over 4 million miles
Raymond Fay Hart, Sr., 78, of Hanover and formerly of Dupont, died Friday, August 23, 2013 at 7:40 a.m. at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison with Pastor Gaines Gentry officiating. Interment will follow in the Grandview Memorial Gardens near Madison. Calling is Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 12 noon until time of the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Hart attended Vevay High School and started his career as an over-the-road truck driver at the age of 16. He had logged over four million miles in his career. He retired in 1995 from Schneider Tank Lines of Green Bay, Wisconsin. During his retirement he enjoyed being an advocate for those with developmental disabilities, caring for his home in Dupont, taking his wife on car tour vacations, telling truck stories and spending time with family. He also enjoyed live music and attending musical performances.
Born June 11, 1935, in Switzerland County, Mr. Hart was the son of James Robert Hart and Nellie Roland Johnson. He was raised by his grandparents, Carroll Isaac and Maude Ellen Hart. He married Joyce Elaine Lucas and she preceded him in death.
Survivors include a daughters, Carrie Ellen (Benjamin Reindollar) Hart, Gina (Mark) Jenkins and Bonnie Hart, all of Madison, Joy "Mindi" (David) Brent of Campbellsburg, Kentucky and Jayme Lee Hart of Louisville, Kentucky; grandsons, Cory, Lucas and Nicholas Fisher, LeAnn and Wade Brent, Tyler Cook and Brittin and Luc Jenkins and son, Raymond (Beth Levandoski) Hart of Chicago, Illinois.
Mr. Hart was preceded in death by his wife; grandparents; parents; sister, Falba Fettig; brother, James Hart and daughter, Tammy Hart Cook.
