Brenda M. Carruthers had a love of children

Brenda Mullins Carruthers, 62, of Seymour died at 7:37a.m. Monday, August 19, 2013.

Per her request, Adams Funeral Home in Crothersville will provide cremation services. Friends may visit the family on Thursday from 1 until 3 p.m. at Mountain Baptist Church, 4604 US Highway 31, Seymour. A memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. with a dove release at the end to conclude the service.

Living most of her life in Jackson County, Mrs. Carruthers attended Crothersville High School, graduating in 1969. She loved children and had a daycare in her home for many years. She also provided home health care for many patients. Mrs. Carruthers loved going to church, reading, decorating and playing games with her grandchildren and her family.

Born June 10, 1951, in Hazard, Kentucky, Mrs. Carruthers was the daughter of Willie Jent and Hazel (Deaton) Prewitt. On April 9, 2005 she married Terry Carruthers.

Survivors include her husband; mother, Hazel Prewitt of Uniontown; children, Timothy "Tim" (Tracy Nolan) Baurle of Seymour, Thomas "Tom" Baurle of Jennings County and Tammy (Lance) VanDoren of Seymour; grandchildren, Faith (Chris) Collins of Bedford, Erikah (Warren) Bennett of Seymour, Dezahree Baurle of Indianapolis, Kenneth and Mark Baurle, both of Jennings County and Brittany and Brandon VanDoren of Seymour; sisters, Debbie Alexander of Seymour and Lucy (Steve) Trapp of Uniontown; brothers, Harold (Betty) and Mike Jent, all of Uniontown and Greg (Betty) Jent of Jennings County.

Mrs. Carruthers was preceded in death by her father and stepmother, Willie (Caroline) Jent; grandson, Baurle Sinclair VanDoren; stepfather, Jackie Prewitt and two husbands David Baurle and Thomas Mullins, Sr.

Memorials may be made to the family or the American Cancer Society or in care of the funeral home, 110 E. Howard Street, Crothersville, IN 47229.
