Paul Lee Fear, 71, lifelong farmer, collected tractors
Paul Lee Fear, 71, of Hartsville died at 6:20 a.m. at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis Tuesday, July 23, 2013.
The funeral was Friday at Bear Creek Baptist Church with Pastors Wes Jones and Della Hamilton officiating. Burial was in Bear Creek Cemetery. Nor-man Funeral Home in Hope handled arrangements.
Mr. Fear graduated from Columbus High School in 1959 and attended Purdue University for agricultural studies for a year before enlisting in the U.S. Army. He was a full-time farmer who also worked for Thompson Farms; his father; Kova and Wilson Pioneer Seeds. Mr. Fear was an active member of Bear Creek Baptist Church and served as trustee and assistant superintendent. He also served on the Decatur County Tractor Pull Association. Mr. Fear loved farming and was a John Deere Tractor Collector.
Born December 30, 1941 in Decatur County, Mr. Fear was the son of Barrett W. and Leila M. Ammerman Fear. He married Betty A. Grover on May 28, 1965 in Groton, Massachusetts. He then married Evelyn Downey Dunn on October 23, 1987 at Bear Creek Baptist Church in Jennings County and she survives.
Survivors include his wife; children, Donna (Shawn) Bentz of Waldron, David and Mark (Jessica) Fear, Cheryl (Charles) Mead and Pamela (Scott) Barkes, all of Columbus, Victoria (Chris) Campfield and Erin Dunn of Hartsville and Erica (Greg) Moore of North Vernon; grandchildren Jackson Bentz of Waldron, Michael Taylor, Patrick and Laura Barkes of Columbus, Samson and Shilo Mead, Kendyll Robins and Christopher, Jacob Fear and Kristina Fear, all of Elizabethtown, Quinton Houshour, Derrex Whittis and Elizabeth and Johnathon Campfield, all of Hartsville, and Jasmine and Christian Moore of North Vernon; and a brother, Ned E. Fear of Hartsville.
Mr. Fear was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Mary Ann Fear.
