Everett Lee Burton, 72, a lifelong G'burg resident
Everett Lee Burton, 72, of Greensburg died 8:53 p.m. Friday, July 12, 2013 at his residence.
The funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home with Rev. Forrest Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow at Union Presbyterian Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 until 8 p.m.at the funeral home.
Mr. Burton was a lifelong resident of Decatur County. He retired from Batesville Casket Company in 2003 after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge #927 of Greensburg. Mr. Burton enjoyed fishing, hunting, helping people, and working at carnivals for the past 50 years.
Born February 16, 1941 in Greensburg, Mr. Burton was the son of Jesse M. and Opal (Bryson) Burton. He married Roberta Faye Powers in Nashville, Tennessee on July 9, 1999 and she preceded him in death on November 28, 2002.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary L. Fields; sons, Scott A. (Cynthia) Burton and James A. Burton of Greensburg; stepson, Robert Ruble of Greensburg; sisters, Marge (Vernon) Moody of Batesville and Sandra Blanford of Greensburg, and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a half-brother, Donald Ray Dyer; sisters, Orpha Brogan, Rosalee Imel, Erma Couch and Patricia Auger.
Memorial contributions through the funeral home to the family to assist with expenses.
