Marilyn Clay Ellis taught at Scipio Elementary School
Marilyn Clay Ellis, 71, of Phoenix, Arizona, died Friday, June 21, 2013 from pulmonary complications resulting from Whipple surgery in December.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Brosmer-Kemple Funeral Home in French Lick. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Cuzco Community Cemetery.
Mrs. Ellis grew up in French Lick and graduated from Indiana State University with a BS degree in Education. She taught second and fourth grades at Scipio Elementary from 1966 to 1968. Mrs. Ellis lived in North Vernon from 1966 to 1984. She and her husband, Dr. Ellis, relocated to Venice, Florida in 1984 where they lived for 22 years before moving to Phoenix, Arizona in 2006.
Born September 28, 1941 in Louisville, Ky., Mrs. Ellis was the daughter of Ramona and Byron Clay.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Joseph E. Ellis, DDS; a daughter, Mary Ellis of Windermere, Florida and her brother, B. Jan Clay of Venice, Florida.
