George Robert "Bobby" Fresh, 88

WW II veteran George Robert Fresh, 88, was a union carpenter, farmer

George Robert "Bobby" Fresh, 88, of Hanover died Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 1:25 p.m. at his home.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison with Bro. Bob Hicks officiating. Calling is Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home. A final salute will be at the funeral home Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. by Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion and full military honors will be at the graveside. Burial will be in New Prospect Cemetery near Saluda.

Mr. Fresh attended Saluda High School and was a U.S. Army veteran having served during WWII. He was a union contractor for over 40 years and was the construction supervisor with the Kent Water Company where he later served as the superintendent. He then worked with O'Brien Engineering. Mr. Fresh was also a farmer. He was a member of the Jefferson County Farm Bureau, Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion, Madison VFW Post 1969, Past Master of the Hanover Masonic Lodge No. 652 F. & A.M., the Murat Shrine, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis and the New Prospect Baptist Church.

Born September 24, 1924 in Madison, Mr. Fresh was the son of George and Amne Moreland Fresh. He married Virginia R. Donnell in 1948 in Carrollton, Kentucky. She preceded him in death.

Survivors include a son, Ronald L. (Janice) Fresh of Cincinnati, Ohio; two grandsons, Rocky (Heather) Fresh and Robert (Jennifer) Fresh; brother, Kenneth Fresh of Hanover and great-grandchildren, Wilson, Kenneth, Jaylee and Bohden Fresh and Ella Rose Prather.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Fresh was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Turner.

Memorial contributions may be made to the New Prospect Baptist Church or New Prospect Cemetery through the funeral home.
