Preston McAllister, 69, put his beliefs to work
Preston "Scott" McAllister, 69, of Seymour died Saturday, May 18, 2013.
Funeral services will be at Voss Chapel in Seymour Tuesday at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Ralph Blomenberg and the Rev. Mark Teike officiating. Private family burial will be held at Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday at 4 p.m. until time of service.
Mr. McAllister retired from Cummins, Inc. after 34 years of service as an application engineer and was self-employed as an engineering consultant exclusively with Cummins, Inc. from 1996 thru March of 2012. He was actively involved in church activities at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Columbus and Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour having served on several outreach and mission projects. He served as an officer and chairman of several service projects with the Columbus and Seymour Jaycees from 1969 through 1975. Mr. McAllister enjoyed traveling, playing golf, watching college basketball, working on his home improvement projects and most of all, spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Born January 15, 1944, in Columbus, Mr. McAllister was the son of Gladys Wilson McAllister and James McAllister. He married Sharon Bobb on September 30, 1963 at New Hope Christian Church in Columbus. She survives.
In addition to his wife, Mr. McAllister is survived by his children, Sonya (Scott Sumner) McAllister of Solana Beach, California, Rick McAllister of Seymour and Tony (Amy Fleming) McAllister of Edina, Minnesota; grandsons, Owen Patrick and Reid William McAllister of Edina, Minnesota and sister, Mary Cress of Lexington.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Fred McAllister.
Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Camp Lakeview or Hospice of Schneck Medical Center.
