Lloyd Donald Lows, 82, was ISP Master Trooper
Lloyd Donald "Don" Lows of Dillsboro, 82, died Wednesday May 15, 2013 at the Dearborn County Hospital at Lawrenceburg.
Services were Saturday at Hope Baptist Church, Dillsboro with Pastor Tom Holt officiating. Arrangements were handled by Sibbett-Moore Funeral Home in Moores Hill. The Indiana State Police provided a full Honor Guard. Burial followed at Hogan Hill Cemetery north of Moores Hill with military rites by Dearborn County Veterans Organization.
Mr. Lows graduated from Moores Hill High School with the class of 1948 and served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Rising Sun Police Dept. before becoming an officer with the Indiana State Police in 1959 retiring as a Master Trooper in 1985. After his retirement from ISP, Mr. Lows worked as an investigator for the Dearborn County Prosecutor's Office in Adult Protective Services. Mr. Lows attended the Hope Baptist Church at Dillsboro, enjoyed his white Buick convertible, and attended fundraising events especially the ones where food was being served. He enjoyed spending time with family and talking about his days as a state trooper.
Born Thursday June 5, 1930 near Hogan Hill in Dearborn County, Mr. Lows was the son of Albert E. and Florence Howard Lows. He married Juanita Willoughby February 14, 1953, and she survives.
In addition to his wife survivors include sons Steven (Valerie) Lows of Scottsdale, Arizona and Douglas Lows of Holton; daughter, Donna Lows of Colorado Springs, Colorado and grandchildren Jared and Miranda Lows.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Maxine Miller, Justin and Calvin Lows and Wanda Godfrey.
