James H. Haddix, 80, a retiree of Crystal Flash
James H. Haddix, 80, of Columbus died at 7:55 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2013, at his home.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street in Columbus with the Rev. Kenneth Lee officiating. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to time of service Wednesday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery with military rites conducted by Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard.
Mr. Haddix, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, retired in 1997 as a manager from Crystal Flash where he had worked for 32 years. He was a member of Sixth Street General Baptist Church in Columbus, the American Legion, and St. John's Masonic Lodge No. 20.
Born in Lee City, Kentucky, April 28, 1932, Mr. Haddix was the son of John A. and Belle Taulbee Haddix. He married Elaine Massaro January 15, 1954. She preceded him in death December 26, 2010.
Survivors include his children, Gayle Coulter of Lexington, Andy (Lynn) Haddix of New Palestine, John (Beth) Haddix of Indianapolis, Jimmy (Cindy) Haddix of North Vernon, Jerry (Debbie) Haddix of Seymour and Bonnie (Brent) Morrison of Columbus; a sister, Ester Combs of Alabama; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; brothers, Russell and Gerald Haddix; and sisters, Glada Brown, Kate Corbin and Ada Banks.
