Nina Aldridge, 80, retired from MSDC after 23 years
Nina Jane Aldridge, 80 of Butlerville, died at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2011, at the Jennings Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from noon until the time of the service Thursday. Burial will be at the Dupont Cemetery.
Mrs. Aldridge retired from the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in 1990 after 23 years. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, bird watching and reading and collecting Western books.
Born on Aug. 1, 1930, in Deputy, she was the daughter of Delmar and Dorothy Bruther Jones. She married Howard Kenneth Aldridge in Newport, Kentucky, on June 11, 1947. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include three daughters, Sherry Smallwood of Elizabethtown, Sheila Bowling of Dupont and Kathy Anderson of Hebron, Kentucky; a brother, Duard Jones of West Sun City, Arizona; two sisters, Marilyn Meeks of Columbus and Brenda Strendhart of North Carolina; 10 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Idell Whitsitt; an infant brother, Jerry Jones; and a great-grandson, Devon Bennett.
